The main protagonist in my short film is a young girl who believes she is a vampire. This is her most dominant character trait and everything in her life is based around this. While researching different sources for my mockumentary I discovered the South Park "Vamp Kids" a group in the fictional animated television show who also act like vampires. The styling of these characters provides basis for the rest of the work I had done creating profiles for my cast.
The Vampire Kids wear plastic fangs and drink Clamato juice as a stand in for blood. They primarily wear clothes from Hot Topic and have ceremonies to induct others into their groups. Unlike the goth kids they conduct themselves in a spiritual manner and are less nihilistic.
Some of these traits will be incorporated into my characterization of the main character, as although she will dress in a dark manner she will not be as dark in attitude. The attention to detail will also be brought in with fake fangs and drinking red liquid instead of blood. They are also a subgroup different from the norm, something which is a very important part of the archetype which I am studying.
I was also inspired by a viral YouTube video from two young girls parodying goth culture. The fashion and style of speaking is something which I wish to incorporate into my final short film, as the delivery will fit well with the script I have written. The names they have given themselves are also ones which would fit well in my characterizations, so some aspects will be used when naming the secondary characters who appear in a couple of scenes.
My Main Protagonist is Raven Darkblood, a nineteen year old "vampire" who loves all things dark and Gothic. She spends large amounts of time with her "coven" listening to emo music and hanging around Norwich, inconveniencing the general public. According to her family she goes through phases like this all the time, this one being the most recent and longest running.
Secondary Characters in Raven's Coven are her friends Lilith Acidbath and Blade, two other teenage vampire wannabes who spend all their time hanging out with Raven or working at their minimum wage jobs. There is also a third character in the Coven, Tara Moonlight, who is not yet a full vampire and is working her way up to fully joining the group. Tara acts as the coven's PA and is subject to much bullying from the other vampires.
Raven's mother also appears in the film as a voice of normality against Raven's over the top personality.
