While completing this scene I chose to focus on setting, as it required the Prime Minister character walking through a door in order to meet the other characters. As I filmed this scene during school, I had decided to use a quiet sixth form area which contained a set of doors, as this would fit the requirements of the scene. However, due to the angle and direction of the shot, the cafe is visible in the background of this scene, taking the audience out of the film and making it slightly less successful, as this does not fit in the actual film setting. I still believe that filming this scene in school was the correct choice, as due to the uniform requirements of the school all of the actors were smartly dressed and so looked like they could fit into the professional atmosphere of this scene. Although the area I had chosen to film in is normally quiet, I did pick up some background noise, as a group of people arrived during filming, making the actor's lines less clear and again detracting from the immersive element of the scene. However, this is not as loud to completely obstruct the audience's ability to hear the actors. The majority of the actors I had chosen were not drama students or professional actors, so the line delivery was not as perfect as it could have been, apart from Natalie I was also able to use the cinematography and editing to move along the narrative. I did this through use of cuts from each line to the next, as well as a couple of panning shots in order to capture the entirety of the action so it was not occurring out of frame. I did have some issues with my cinematography, as there were a few clips where Pat was in the middle of the shot without having any lines, where she should have been off to the side to allow for the main action to take the centre placement. In spite of this I believe that the editing was successful and I was able to edit around any problems which I may have had when filming.
The greatest challenges I faced when filming occurred with the issue of sound. The background noise became an issue which we could not work around fully, as I did not have the option to go back and record all the sound again and then edit it over the top. If I had planned for a second filming location then I would have been able to record somewhere quieter which would have allowed me to work around this issue. However, I still believe that this is a passable recording, and does not make it unwatchable.
When creating my coursework I will be sure to use a smaller cast and work more on arranging them, as I had many unintresting shots. If I use a larger cast I will be sure to choreograph them properly in order to avoid this issue. I will also use actors who know how to act or are willing to be in the film, so as to avoid monotone delivery of lines.
